Lake Hood Seaplane Base (ICAO: Palah, FAA IDAKNA: LHD) is a state-owned sea airbase located three nautical miles (6 km) southwest of the central business district of Anchorage, Alaska, USA. Lake Hood Strip (ICAO): Palah, FAA ID: LHD) is a pebble runway adjacent to a plain. The previous code of Gravel Strip Airport (FAA LID: Z41) has been revoked and attached to (ICAO: PALH, FAA LID: LHD) as another landing surface.

Consistently and open to the public, Lake Hood is the world’s busiest maritime airbase, operating an average of 190 flights per day. It is located on Lakes Hood and Spenard (Niłkidal’iy in the indigenous Danina language), three miles from downtown Anchorage next to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. The base has an operating control tower and the surface of the frozen lake is maintained for ski-equipped aircraft during the winter months.
